My status update
October 16, 2009 by Claire Affleck

Awhile back I wrote on vowing to value my time off, vowing to take one day a week to rest (Monday), vowing to relax and be rejuvenated for the upcoming week. I’m going to be honest here. Within 48 hours of writing that article, I broke my vow. But, I didn’t let myself feel bad about it. Since then, I have been better about truly taking a day to rest. The most challenging part is letting go of the guilt that I feel for NOT working, however I consciously make an effort to let that go and I am proud of the progress I’ve made in that department.
Now I am working on focusing on ABUNDANCE in life. Although my business is equipped to continue through the winter, things often slow down a bit when the weather gets cold and the snow begins to fly. It becomes harder for people to travel in winter conditions, money becomes tight with the upcoming holidays, kids are busy with school and school related activities, and not to mention that it is pretty darn cold in the barn! So the trick is for me to think of abundance of business throughout the winter and the entire year. Each time I start to get that negative or nervous feeling in my gut about it I take a deep breath and tell myself, “Don’t think that I am “lacking” think that I have an “abundance” and the Universe will deliver that to me.” Read more
Guided meditation, accessing the world within
October 12, 2009 by Editor

A guided meditation uses the sound of a person’s voice to direct you through an inner process of relaxing your body and shifting your mind’s focus. The voice may be a person in the room with you or a recording—even something downloaded from the internet—and it is generally spoken in soothing, soft tones. You may be guided to focus on aspects of your physical body, such as on your breathing, relaxing your muscles one-by-one, or on an area in need of healing. Sometimes it might involve visualizing a journey through the beauty of the natural world. Other times, you may be led to envision yourself working with light or energy, accomplishing your goals, or repeating positive thoughts in your head. Your guide may walk you through relaxation or motivation to help you change a habit, access untapped potential, or perhaps merely to find the silence within you. Read more
Meditation, visualization and daily affirmations

Meditation
Meditation can be extremely relaxing and beneficial for everyone. However, sometimes it is a challenge to get started and feel comfortable with the idea of sitting quietly for an extended period of time. We are so accustomed to constantly running and moving onto the next project that it is a wonderful opportunity to slowdown, catch our breath, and appreciate where we are in life. I have compiled some meditation techniques that I have tried, and hopefully some of them will be beneficial to you. Keep in mind it is good to have a few different ones you enjoy. Sometimes you may be more receptive to focusing on a thought rather than a spot on your body, or vice versa.
The Candle
If you are having difficulty focusing on your breathing or a particular thought, it may help to dim the lights of the room, remove all noisy distractions, and focus on the flame from a candle. When you are doing this it is important to just let your eyes relax, and make sure you are comfortable. Read more

The visualization everyone does …

Even if they don’t believe in visualization.
Below is an excerpt of an article written by Joseph F McCaffrey MD, FACS. Dr. Joe McCaffrey is a board certified surgeon with a special interest in alternative and complementary medicine. He strives to help people reach their maximum level of health and vitality. Visit his website here for a guide to vital living.
Even if you don’t believe in visualization, I’ll bet you practice at least one form of it sometimes. Most people have heard of visualization – clearly imagining a desired outcome. Many people use it hoping to increase their chance of success. Other people consider visualization New Age fluff. They deride those who recommend it. However, even though they scoff, they’re often dedicated practitioners of a specific form of visualization.
In this form, they dwell on an outcome to the point of obsession. They imagine in such detail that they actually experience emotions and shift their physiology. In fact, this form of visualization may be the most commonly applied. The only problem with it is that it focuses on negative outcomes. It usually goes by its common name: worry. Read more
