Growing Pains of the Heart

Heartache and heart break.  Most of us view these as negatives.  The trick is, of course, to see the positive side.
A quote from Rita Mae Brown helped me to see the positive side of feeling sorrow, anger, grief, and heart break.  She stated that, “Sorrow is how we learn to love. Your heart isn’t breaking. It hurts because it’s getting larger.  The larger it gets the more love it holds.”

Instead of feeling as though your heart is breaking, think of it as growing, stretching, and becoming more loving.  When you are filled to the brink with sadness, at your lowest low, think of your highest high and of your heart bursting with joy.  If you can feel immense sadness, then you can also feel the opposite; immense happiness.  And you will reach that point of joy again, one step at a time.

The first step to attaining that state of blissfulness is to let your aching heart love. Read more

Believe in yourself first

“If you don’t believe in yourself, don’t ask anyone else to do so.”
-Napoleon Hill, Positive Action Plan

The journey to success begins with self-confidence.  You must first believe in your own mind that you can achieve your goal.  When you have doubts and insecurities you are telling yourself that you cannot accomplish your objective.  In other words, if you think you’re going to fail, you will.  When you exude doubtfulness other people also pick up on that.  When you behave like a confident person, however, others get excited about your aspirations and want to become a part of your success.  Other people will not go out of their way to help someone reach a goal if the individual doesn’t even believe they can reach it!  But, when exude confidence, passion, and positive energy others will latch onto that and doors will open for you!    Read more

My thoughts and your thoughts #204

July 14, 2009 by TA Smith

I love Quotes. I love them because they make me think. What does the quoter mean? Why did he/she write this? Is there a message to get through to the reader/the world? What did YOU initially think when you read it?

Here goes blog quote #204…

“There is a direct proportion to how fast you speak and how little people understand.”
-Fran Loeber, my awesome godfather-

Does anyone have the challenge that I have.. in that I talk too fast? Let me clarify; I’m not a fast talker( as in slick), I’m just a spaz and whatever I’m trying to say seems to rush out of my mouth. Perhaps it’s just that my mind is racing at 123 miles per hour. Maybe, I’m thinking, if I don’t get it out in a hurry, I’ll forget what I wanted to say?

Well, when Uncle Fran told me the above quote, it really made sense. The faster I speak, the less people will comprehend. Clear communication begins with S-l-o-w-i-n-g D-o-w-n.

Much work to do for me, but let’s just say I’m a ‘work in progress’. Who isn’t?

That’s my view……. What Say You?

Here goes blog quote #194…

“Half the failures of this world arise from pulling in one’s horse as he is leaping.”
-Augustus Hare-

A quote about a Horse…. from a Rabbit(Hare)? Right on Augustus! Whatever you are working on currently–forge ahead. Give it time. Let time work for you, not against. Remember the old saying “The race goes not to the swift, but to the steady”. Also, “Good things come to those who wait.”

One final comment.. what is the rush to quit? Whatever idea you originally had and got up the gumption and energy to start, is probably a good one. What’s your hurry? Overnight successes are few and far between, and mostly in fairytales. Proceed on. Chances are, before you know it, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the smell of success.

That’s my view……. What Say You?

It’s not what you get that matters…

…It’s who you become.

Below is an excerpt of an article written by Joseph F McCaffrey MD, FACS. Dr. Joe McCaffrey is a board certified surgeon with a special interest in alternative and complementary medicine. He strives to help people reach their maximum level of health and vitality. Visit his website here for a guide to vital living.

My appreciation of the wisdom of that statement has grown over the years. Most recently, I thought of it while I was getting my hair cut. I go to a one-person shop in the village close to where I live (we actually do refer to it as the village, quaint as that may sound to some). The woman who cuts my hair rents a cute, small free-standing building behind the inn on the main street. The patisserie that bakes for the inn is right across the brick driveway. It’s a nice location.

When I was there earlier this week, she told me that she was thinking of expanding her business and hiring two talented women who wanted to work with her. She wasn’t worried about the hair cutting part, but about the management part. She realized, as the book “The E-Myth” points out, that being able to do the work of a business is different than being able to run the business. That is, just because you’re a good electrician doesn’t mean you’ll be good at running an electrical contracting business.

This woman realizes that she will need to develop new skills if her venture is to be successful. She will need to grow and become more. [Read more here]
