Feeling Stressed? Here’s Some Help!

December 22, 2009 by Editor

Lets face it, we all get stressed out at some point in our lives; but when stress is a regular occurrence it can have a toll on our body and health. When we get stressed out our body goes into fight or flight response. When this happens our body releases hormones like adrenalin and cortical ( can contribute to weight gain), which speed up our heart and slows down digestion. Stress also makes our pupils dilates, breathing becomes rapid, we become insensitive to pain, blood rushes to the muscle getting ready to flight ( run), sweat glands increase secretion ( you start sweating more), and urinary tract organs decrease activity ( you have to urinate less). Being stressed can also inhibit our ability to think clearly which may cause us to do things that we may not normally do or say. Being stressed also effects all the people around you.

Stress can cause health problems such as : Hypertension, Depression, Diabetes, Obesity, Obsessive- compulsive or anxiety disorder, Hair loss, Heart disease, Hyperthyroidism, Sexual dysfunction, Tooth and gum disease, Ulcers, etc.

So now that we know what stress is, how can we help ourselves feel less stressed? First let me just say that one technique may not work for everyone, you’ll have to do a trial and error type thing to find what works for you, but here are some suggestions that may work. Read more

Enjoying a snail’s pace, doing things slowly

October 16, 2009 by Editor

Life can often feel like it’s zipping by in fast forward. We feel obliged to accelerate our own speed along with it, until our productivity turns into frenzied accomplishment. We find ourselves cramming as much activity as possible into the shortest periods of time. We disregard our natural rhythms because it seems we have to just to keep up. In truth, rushing never gets you anywhere but on to the next activity or goal.

Slowing down allows you to not only savor your experiences, but also it allows you to fully focus your attention and energy on the task at hand. Moving at a slower place lets you get things done more efficiently, while rushing diminishes the quality of your work and your relationships. Slowing down also lets you be more mindful, deliberate, and fully present. When we slow down, we are giving ourselves the opportunity to reacquaint ourselves to our natural rhythms. Read more

Guided meditation, accessing the world within

October 12, 2009 by Editor

A guided meditation uses the sound of a person’s voice to direct you through an inner process of relaxing your body and shifting your mind’s focus. The voice may be a person in the room with you or a recording—even something downloaded from the internet—and it is generally spoken in soothing, soft tones. You may be guided to focus on aspects of your physical body, such as on your breathing, relaxing your muscles one-by-one, or on an area in need of healing. Sometimes it might involve visualizing a journey through the beauty of the natural world. Other times, you may be led to envision yourself working with light or energy, accomplishing your goals, or repeating positive thoughts in your head. Your guide may walk you through relaxation or motivation to help you change a habit, access untapped potential, or perhaps merely to find the silence within you. Read more

Meditation: I am unique and loved in this life, and so are thee

July 31, 2009 by Dr. Rob

12 minute meditation
I am unique and loved in this life, and so are thee

First thing in the morning, best with meditative music, walking in the garden, or simple Tai Chi
Focus on the breath, in through the nose and out slowly with a smile
Let go of the unwanted thoughts by allowing them to flow freely and then let them go
Come to the breath and the mantra, positive thought, positive language
I am unique and loved in this life, and so are thee
This is simple and practiced each and every day, easy yoga adds much love
Namaste,
Dr. Rob

Mom/Maria update:
Home today and moving both left leg and hand, feeling the love and healing from all in the Universe.
Thank you from my heart and my love to all!

12 minute meditation: The beauty and transitions of life

June 4, 2009 by Dr. Rob

First thing in the morning
Kneeling or sitting, even in bed, or even in the car (not while driving)
Light body movements with the arms and hands coming together at the chest
Spiritual music awakening me (no alarm)
Focus on your breath, this is easy and 1….breath, 2…….breath, 3……breath
Simply breathe in, and focus, how easy to see the beauty of me
The beauty of all life is what I think it be, a breath in, a breath out
Focusing on the words, “the beauty and transitions of life
Get up and out, and soar the Universe in your mind, this is from where all things come
Slow and easy with the breath, the music, light and easy movements of life
See and feel the energy of life entering into you, then flowing beyond and loving all
Each day, simply focusing your thoughts on the beauty of the day
This is how to make another most awesome and amazing day

Enjoy the day,
Dr. Rob
