PCOS

September 2, 2009 by Dr. Rob

I’m 23 years old and last January I was diagnosed with PCOS after trying to get pregnant for about six months. Being so young I never thought I’d have any issues getting pregnant. I tried clomid for about four months and then three IUI’s before taking a little break. When I switched jobs and my insurance changed it no longer covered any fertility treatments, so I looked for other alternatives.

When I found out about the CNY Healing Arts Spa in Latham I was very interested. I worked with Rebecca for acupuncture (also a herbal tea and diet) and Kristen for massage. I also did about three sessions of yoga. Everyone is so nice and makes every visit extremely comfortable. I started going this past March and by the end of May I found out I was pregnant. So far my pregnancy has been so normal I almost feel this isn’t normal (haha). I still go see Kristen for a monthly massage and went to see Rebecca up to about week eight. I always feel so relaxed and refreshed after visiting.

I feel extremely fortunate for my experience, and even though I was scared that it took me two years to get pregnant, now I feel so much hope and excitement. Not only for me and my husband if we decide to have another child, but it is exciting for others who share similar situations. Everyday was a learning experience not only in fertility but just how important taking care of your body is. Thank you so muuch.

No words can express…

August 27, 2009 by Dr. Rob

My husband and I were married in May of 2006. He had a two year old daughter at the time and we knew we wanted more children as soon as possible. We started trying immediately. After a year and a half of unsuccessful tries we consulted my OB/GYN, and after many tests, she had us try a few cycles of clomid. Then in June of 2008 she referred us to the CNY Fertility Center. We were both so nervous and excited. On our very first appointment we discovered that I had PCOS. We didn’t think our chances of having children were good, but the staff were all so wonderful and encouraging! And after our second IUI, we got a Positive test!! We couldn’t believe how quickly it happened! Jr. was born on June 21, 2009 (Father’s Day). He is the light of our lives and definitely his big sisters!! Words can’t express how grateful we are to Dr. Rob and all of the staff in Syracuse! Thank you so much!!!

After thirteen long years…

May 22, 2009 by Dr. Rob

When I first started treatments with Dr. Kiltz I never expected to become a mother , by this time I was in my late 20’s and had never been on birth control. I was married for five years to a man I loved more than life, although me not feeling like a Woman was tearing our relationship apart. Finding out that I had PCOS, changed my life dramatically. Dr. Kiltz had known how to treat me all along , without having to go to other Doctors. I was on a few different treatments, and ended up taking a few months off during the Holiday’s. I planned on starting injectables the following year. On March 5, 2006 at the age of 31, I found out that I was pregnant for the first time after trying for 13 years , me and my husband couldn’t believe it. Dr. Kiltz was instrumental in me carrying my son to term, since there is a high rate of women with PCOS and miscarriages. On 10-31-2006 my life started with the birth of my son Shawn Jr. I owe Dr. Kiltz my eternal gratitude for my beautiful miracle , for that is what all children are. My son is truly my life , a gift from above. I am now 34 and would love more children , but if it doesn’t happen… it’s OK.

Thank You again , Dr. Kiltz and your Staff at CNY Fertility Center.

Dave & Stephanie’s Story

August 1, 2008 by Dr. Rob

We were married in August of 2004 and started trying for our first baby the following March. We knew it may take awhile for us to conceive due to scar tissue from surgeries I had had on my cervix over the years. I was 27 years old and my husband was 28 at this time. By June we were not pregnant so we were referred to Dr. Kiltz. I was diagnosed with PCOS.

Over the next 2 years we tried 4 IUI’s, 3 were negative and 1 was a chemical pregnancy. We had different procedures done and cysts that had to be resolved during these 2 years. Finally in the fall of 07′ we decided to try IVF. We had 19 eggs, 15 were fertalized, 2 were placed back inside of me, and 5 made it through to being frozen. Dr. Kiltz reassured us that our embryos looked great and with our ages we had a great chance of at least one embryo taking hold.

He was right and after a mostly uneventful pregnancy I gave birth to our little daughter via C-section on July 10, 2008. Sadie Louise Frances was born at 7lbs 7ozs at 9:25am. She is perfect except some minor medical issues that will be corrected by surgery during her first year. We feel enormously blessed by our little girl and words will never be enough to thank Dr. Kiltz, Tracy, Meg, Donna, and all the other wonderful people at CNY Fertility.
