Kindness
January 5, 2010 by Yvonne Conte

Kindness is one of my favorite words. I remember seeing a sign in a second hand shop that said, “Kindness Practiced Daily”. It was no surprise to find the lady that worked in that shop was a sweet, kind lady. She made everyone who came into the shop feel welcomed. I am always drawn to people who are genuinely kind-hearted. I aspire to be known as a kind person. That’s why I love the holiday season so much- kindness seems to be everywhere. People open the door for you, neighbors exchange cookies, we sing, we laugh and all is merry. What happens to all that kindness once the tree is at the curb? We all know people who seem to put kindness away with the Christmas decorations. What can we do to change that? Read more
More Than Just An Alarm Clock
November 12, 2009 by Editor

The maid at the Kingsgate Hotel off Salam Street in Abu Dhabi had outdone even my mother. Every article of clothing had either been placed on a coat hanger or folded neatly, even the socks. The disposable razors and washing gels were lined up like toy soldiers, waiting to do battle.
I thanked Agnes profusely, gave her a generous tip and went about my day. Late that evening, when I returned from work, a shiny new alarm clock was on the bedside table. As I had occasionally asked the maid for the time of day, I knew right away what had happened. She had used some of the money I had given her – money she certainly needed for herself or her family back home in the Philippines – and bought the clock.
As I hope anyone would have done, I told her she was too kind and returned the money with a little extra. Her generosity reminded me of a truism I have learnt in my work and travels: often the people with the least to give are the most generous. Read more
A softer touch, applying gentleness to your life
September 9, 2009 by Editor

Throughout life we must cope with blockages that impede our forward momentum. Whether these obstacles are of a personal, professional, or societal nature, our first instinct may be to push against the obstruction. But the simplest way to alleviate resistance is to approach it gently, with a soft manner and kind intentions. Struggle and strife can find no foothold when confronted with mildness because conflict can only exist when fed by two opposing forces. So many areas of our lives can benefit from the application of gentleness. The beauty of gentleness lies in its multifaceted nature. It is part love, part compassion, part patience, part understanding, and part respect for others. When we move through life gently as a matter of course, we naturally attract these wonderful elements into our lives. Read more

Video: Free hugs campaign
August 5, 2009 by Editor
Sometimes, a hug is all we need. “Free Hugs” is the real life controversial story of Juan Mann, whose sole mission was to reach out and hug a stranger put a smile on their face. In this age of social-disconnection most all of us lack that simple human touch from another, the effects of the Free Hugs Campaign are now felt around the globe. As this simple gesture of kindness and hope spread across the city, police and officials ordered the Free Hugs Campaign BANNED. Public liability fear and red tape. But it’s all okay now! What we then witnessed was the true spirit of humanity as people came together in what can only be described as something awe inspiring. Make sure to check your local laws before embarking on your own Hugathon! Watch Juan’s inspirational video below.
Meditation: Hugs, smiles and kindness, my gifts today
12 minute meditation:
Hugs, smiles and kindness, my gifts today
I do this today, first thing in my day
To start with a blessing and breath of the day
To share these thoughts, words, and energy to create the day
A simple thing to start with the breath, in slow through the nose
Repeating the mantra, intention, positive affirmation, smile out with the breath
This creates the positive molecules that bathe each and every cell in the body
Vibrant feelings are developed from this, wellness and gratitude exude
Meditative music and walking Tai Chi
A beautiful thing that you too can do to create happiness in your day
The breath, the mantra, the music, the motion
Practice living in the moment of today, with hugs, smiles and kindness shared with all today
Namaste to all,
love,
Dr. Rob

Mom, Maria, moving and waving her left hand and arm, much to be thankful for today.
Blessings to all on their journey today, sending love, hugs and smiles from Mom.

Meditation of the day: Kindness is my way of life
Remember 12 minutes each and everyday, focus on the breath
Meditative music in the background

Take a breath, kindness is my way, each and every day
Breathe in then smile out, easy as can be
To practice each and every day, will change your day, and your brain
