My thoughts and your thoughts #144
May 12, 2009 by TA Smith

I love quotes. I love them because they make me think. What does the quoter mean? Why did he/she write this? Is there a message to get through to the reader/the world? What did YOU initially think when you read it?
Here goes blog quote #144….
“She looks as if butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth.”
-Swift, Polite Conversation-
I got a good chuckle out of this one. Never heard of a “cold look” put in these terms.
Quick question…. When dealing with a customer, a sales clerk, someone your calling on in business, a receptionist, the grocery stork check out person, or ANYONE.. would you rather be dealing with a warm, friendly, smiling person? Or, someone with a cold, sour, miserable attitude? Read more

(Inspired by a teen that is changing the world, one person at a time!)
Imagine a life where you grow up realizing that dreams are possible, creativity is honored and one’s opinion matter to the adults in the world of teens.
Imagine a school where young people are committed to creating unity in their school, recognizing individual differences as one’s uniqueness, not something to be ridiculed.
Imagine a teen that feels confident enough to express his/her viewpoint without concern for being judged, who invites others to share their opinion and listens openly to their views.
Imagine a world where young people see the possibilities of a world united and connected; where experiences demonstrate the power of one and the power of 1 + 1 = 11~individuals joining forces to create a larger impact-a ripple that expands beyond this moment in time. Read more

Grandma’s hands
April 2, 2009 by Editor

Grandma, some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the patio bench. She didn’t move, just sat with her head down staring at her hands. When I sat down beside her she didn’t acknowledge my presence and the longer I sat I wondered if she was OK. Finally, not really wanting to disturb her but wanting to check on her at the same time, I asked her if she was OK. She raised her head and looked at me and smiled. ‘Yes, I’m fine, thank you for asking,’ she said in a clear strong voice.
‘I didn’t mean to disturb you, grandma, but you were just sitting here staring at your hands and I wanted to make sure you were OK,’ I explained to her.
‘Have you ever looked at your hands,’ she asked. ‘I mean really looked at your hands?’
I slowly opened my hands and stared down at them. I turned them over, palms up and then palms down. No, I guess I had never really looked at my hands as I tried to figure out the point she was making.
Grandma smiled and relayed this story:
“Stop and think for a moment about the hands you have, how they have served you well throughout your years. These hands, though wrinkled shriveled and weak have been the tools I have used all my life to reach out and grab and embrace life. Read more

- Barbara Bush-
There! All you Clean Freaks.. TAKE THAT!
I believe Barbara’s message is::: spend more time with your loved ones and less time worrying about how clean the windows are and the mild dirt under the ottoman. Read more
