Celebrating Family in NYC

Below is a photo gallery of Dr. Rob visiting NYC to celebrate Pilar’s 21st birthday and making a new family connection along the way with Robert Zerilli (cousin) who owns Veniero’s Pasticceria and Café.

Dr. Rob On My Mind, November 16th, 2009

Dr. Rob on my mind;
A celebration this Saturday in NYC with Mom, Dad, Gina and of course the birthday girl, Pilar. To the Empire hotel we stayed and the Ocean Grill for a great dinner. On the drive home on Sunday we stopped at the family owned Veniero’s Pasticceria and Café. My mother has spoken of this amazing place for some time and this was our time to stop in and say hello. Robert Zerilli, my cousin, whom I had never met,  greeted us as family and made us feel immediately at home. We sat down with great cookies, espresso and cappuccino too, and of course the energy of enjoying life. Laughs, memories with my mother growing up in the village and spending many days in the same spot, times gone by. We spoke of our grandparents, children and love of life. And how baking goods is all part of life. People stopping in on their way to a friends, family or a party, for the treats we love and that connect us together. To finish the meal and then sit around with coffee and Veniero’s baked goods. Or the wedding cake that is a symbol of life to come, a fertility connection I knew I had with Robert. Although this was a short visit, we made it fast and a certain blast, knowing more is to come in life. My mother and father were energized for the 4 hour ride home with a smile and the comfort foods gifted to us from Robert Z. A moment it takes to connect, a smile and hug, for we are all family in this life, Veniero’s is a simple connection place.

Dr. Rob on my mind; A birthday wish for my daughter Pilar, a gem of life and a sparkle in my life. I send my most precious thoughts of love and care, with gratitude and blessing to her mother, Gina. For the care and love and helping to  get to 21. It is all fast, and the key is to make it a good time. This we have done and keep on going. As I reflect on the journey and joy of it all, with the ups and downs, as all part of the path. This is what makes us who we are. Allow it all to be and rejoice in the gifts of life. All meant to be exactly what it is, as the creator has given to each of us. I rejoice in the blessings of the relationships and care from all.

Surround yourself with love

Each day we choose who we surround ourselves with.  By emitting a positive, loving energy we in turn, attract other people who are also positive and loving to be around us.  Being surrounded by loving people gives us comfort and support, through our all of our ups and downs in life.  When we have this loving sense of community it provides us with an overwhelming sense of peace, harmony, and well being.

We can build our communities of love all around us, each day.  Our families are one loving community that we belong to.  Families love, comfort and support us unconditionally.  It is important to foster family bonds, but we often get so busy with our daily routines that we neglect to do this.  Take time out today to call or write a family member that you haven’t spoken to recently and let them know you are thinking of them and that you love them.  It’s guaranteed to bring a  smile to their face!   Plan a family dinner or family reunion to bring everyone together. Humanity, we are family

When it comes to our families, we sometimes see only our differences. We see the way our parents cling to ideas we don’t believe, or act in ways we try not to act. We see how practical one of our siblings is and wonder how we can be from the same gene pool. Similarly, within the human family we see how different we are from each other, in ways ranging from gender and race to geographical location and religious beliefs. It is almost as if we think we are a different species sometimes. But the truth is, in our personal families as well as the human family, we really are the same. Read more
