A book recommendation: You can’t send a Duck to Eagle School, by Mac Anderson. Absolutely great book for business owners, managers and anyone else in life. Here are 10 gems of info I pulled from the book.

#1 Survey of 1 million people were taken who thought they had the best boss. The most popular answer was.. Boss was willing to listen to what they had to say. Hello….Are you listening????

#2 Keep it simple. Red Auerbach and Vince Lombardi, 2 of the all time most famous coaches, only has 3-7 plays, but practiced and practiced them to perfection. Simple enough?

#3 Southwest Air CEO was asked HOW he gets such nice employees. His answer was that he hires people with nice, positive qualities. You can’t teach people enthusiasm, motivation and to smile. It makes all the difference in the world.
Seems so simplistic, yet it makes perfect sense!

#4 Attitude is everything.  We all have down days and tough stuff. Just deal with it and BOUNCE BACK. Read more

How you affect others daily

September 17, 2009 by Editor

As the pace and fullness of modern life serve to isolate us from one another, the contact we do share becomes vastly more significant. We unconsciously absorb each other’s energy, adopting the temperament of those with whom we share close quarters, and find ourselves changed after the briefest encounters. Everything we do or say has the potential to affect not only the individuals we live, work, and play with but also those we’ve just met. Though we may never know the impact we have had or the scope of our influence, accepting and understanding that our attitudes and choices will affect others can help us remember to conduct ourselves with grace at all times. When we seek always to be friendly, helpful, and responsive, we effortlessly create an atmosphere around ourselves that is both uplifting and inspiring. Read more

Quotes on attitude, doubt and succeeding

June 3, 2009 by TA Smith

I love quotes. I love them because they make me think. What does the quoter mean? Why did he/she write this? Is there a message to get through to the reader/the world? What did YOU initially think when you read it?

Attitude – blog quote #167….

“Every thought is a seed. if you plant crab apples, don’t count on harvesting golden delicious.”
-Bill Meyer-

Anyone ever heard the line you reap what you sow? I thought that meant food.
How about you get what you give? Then there’s the classic, garbage in, garbage out? We can’t forget our old favorite, Zig Ziglars.. “We all need a daily check up from the neck up to avoid stinkin’ thinkin’ which ultimately leads to hardening of the attitudes.” Anyone care to tally up the amount of POSITIVE thoughts they had today versus how many NEGATIVE ones? Perhaps tomorrow will be better.

Happiness is a continuous creative activity. -Baba Amte

10 Things Science Says Will Make You Happy:

In the last few years, psychologists and researchers have been digging up hard data on a question previously left to philosophers: What makes us happy? Researchers like the father-son team Ed Diener and Robert Biswas-Diener, Stanford psychologist Sonja Lyubomirsky, and ethicist Stephen Post have studied people all over the world to find out how things like money, attitude, culture, memory, health, altruism, and our day-to-day habits affect our well-being. The emerging field of positive psychology is bursting with new findings that suggest your actions can have a significant effect on your happiness and satisfaction with life. Read more
