July 3, 2009 by Dr. Rob

Dr. Rob created a video today to shares his thoughts on life, action, movement, loving, caring, sharing and creating the most awesome life! Life is a verb, the intention for today.

Video transcription:

Good morning to all and a fabulous day in the Universe
Life is a verb, my intention of the day
Words of love and words of life
Simple thoughts of the beauty and light
The noun of life, a man, a woman, a thing, a love, a life
A description of us, static and might
Is this enough to describe me and my life
To be static and not moving, I think not in life
For this is most  uncomfortable  to me
And a heavy burden I do not wish to see
For action and movement is the nature of me Read more

Letters of gratitude

July 3, 2009 by Editor

We have thousands of opportunities every day to be grateful: for having good weather, to be able to sit in such a beautiful room on such comfortable furniture, to have slept well last night, to be able to get up, to be healthy, to have enough to eat… There’s opportunity upon opportunity to be grateful; that’s what life is. –Brother David Steindl-Rast

A Retired Teacher’s Letters of Gratitude:
Xu Niankui, a 76-year-old retired teacher in China, had just gotten on a bus when a young girl immediately offered up her seat for him. Xu began chatting with her, and though he couldn’t get her name or age, he found out she was from Taopu Middle School, and so sent a letter to the school thanking the anonymous girl. The school identified the good Samaritan and ended up recognizing her for her charitable act. This was a revelation for Xu: he decided that if people realized how much a simple motion like giving up their seat meant to other people, they would do similar good deeds more. Since that time in May 2007, Xu has stepped his thanking up a notch and made a habit of giving a letter of gratitude to every person who’s ever gotten up for him. [Read more here]

A mother’s intuition

July 3, 2009 by Judith Geiger

A mother’s intuition is only one kind of intuition but seems to be the easiest to access. I believe it has to do with the bond that every mother has with her children. Even if they are estranged now, at the moment of birth a special sacred bond was formed.

I had a very profound experience myself with mother’s intuition a few years ago. Reading in bed, with my husband at my side, my eyes became heavy so I turned off my lamp to go to sleep. My husband continued to read and in just a few minutes my eyes flew open. My husband and I argue this next point. He says I was asleep (in alpha stage) and I say, “No, I was awake.” Either way I sat bolt upright and said, “One of my girls is going to be in an accident. I cannot tell which one but one of them will be in an accident.”  My husband patted my arm and said to go back to sleep. There really was nothing else I could do. I couldn’t call them at their homes and tell them this. After all, what good would it do? It would only scare them and put negative thoughts into their mind so I decided to dismiss it. After much tossing and turning I was able to finally fall back to sleep.

The next morning I only gave it a passing thought and went to work as usual. About ten o’clock that morning the phone rang. It was my daughter’s horse trainer saying, “Lora took a bad fall going over a triple jump with her horse and I need you to take her to the hospital. She refuses an ambulance.”  I rushed to her side, a half hour drive, and as I walked out to the riding ring where she was sitting, these words rushed out of my mouth without thought, “I knew you were going to be in an accident but I thought it was going to be in a car.” Read more

The art of healing at CNY

July 3, 2009 by Christine Briel

I’ve been working with the team of practitioners at the CNY Healing Arts Center in Syracuse, NY for almost a year now. We have weekly meetings to discuss various issues and needs for the centers operations and promotions. Sometimes we brainstorm about acupuncture or massage specials or how to enhance the skin care services that are being offered. They are a fabulous team and it’s a pleasure working with them.

Recently I’ve had the occasion to visit the Healing Arts Center as a client. I’ve been suffering from some pain and numbness, almost like a pinched nerve, and wasn’t sure what the source of the problem was. I initially had a consultation with my general practitioner and had several tests performed. Nothing showed up. I was becoming so frustrated as the pain began to interfere with my normal day-to-day functioning as well as my nightly sleep.

I work with Dr. Rob Kiltz as well and he is a very intuitive, perceptive man. He seemed to notice I wasn’t feeling well without having to even bring it up. I shared with him what was going on and where I was to date regarding diagnosis and treatment, which was actually nowhere, or so it felt. As usual he was very positive, reassuring and advised me on a go forward plan. He suggested I first try some Maya Abdominal Massage with Erika Lutwin, LMT at the Healing Arts Center in Syracuse. He explained that I might want to have exploratory laparoscopy performed but we could chat about that later.

I admitted that I am a very impatient person when I don’t feel physically up to speed and really just wanted a quick fix, to which he laughed and said “I know.” Dr. Kiltz then reiterated that I should really try the Maya Abdominal Massage and also consider starting a normal yoga practice as well as to be sure and meditate daily. I’ll admit I had some degree of trouble buying this suggestion and was not wholeheartedly convinced any of it would give me the relief I so wanted and as I mentioned before I am terribly impatient.

I scheduled an appointment with Erika on that following Tuesday. I was starting to become excited Read more

A calm and loving feeling for yourself and for all people in life
Sitting in a comfortable position, focusing on the breath, in through the nose… slow
And contemplate the beauty and energy of life flowing as you breathe in
Try Tai Chi or walking in the garden
Hold the breath in for a moment and slowly let it out through the mouth, with a smile, letting all of the negative energy go
Taking in another breath, beautiful love and energy of life, slow and focused, hold it in for a moment, contemplating the ocean of love and the beauty of life

Video transcription:

Good morning to all and another spectacular day in the Universe
Life’s price, my intention of the day
The energy of life, a price
Not so cheap to you or me
For nothing is free, yet life was given to me
Now I must get up and out, and journey life out
I must work and pay for life to be
To get up and out and price life out
To follow my personal legend, that I want it to be Read more

Your life’s work, defining your direction

July 2, 2009 by Editor

Many people are committed to professions and personal endeavors they never consciously planned to pursue. They attribute the shape of their lives to circumstance, taking on roles they feel are tolerable. Each of us, however, has been blessed with a purpose. Your life’s work is the assemblage of activities that allows you to express your intelligence and creativity, live in accordance with your values, and experience the profound joy of simply being yourself. Unlike traditional work, which may demand more of you than you are willing to give, life’s work demands nothing but your intent and passion for that work. Yet no one is born with an understanding of the scope of their purpose. If you have drifted through life, you may feel directionless. Striving to discover your life’s work can help you realize your true potential and live a more authentic, driven life. Read more
