Finding as you grow into your own self that you can be anything you truly want is such a beautiful and rewarding experience. All you need to do is Believe in yourself. Now I know this is easier said than done, however it is so very true. You can connect to your own inner being just by being WHO YOU TRULY ARE.
When you are unsure, and you are having a “negative thoughts” kind of day, email a friend and ask them to take 5-7 minutes to list 5-10 good qualities about you. Just make it quick and simple. Say something like: I was wondering if you would do an exercise with me or for me, which includes writing 5-10 quick little things (positive things) that you think about me.
Not bad things, (that seems to always come into play first and foremost), but think of the good, and positive things. It always seems to be easy to think “I disliked this or that,” but do people ever remember the good, the fun and heart-felt qualities about someone?
This exercise or experiment is good for your self esteem, and helps you to know that you truly are not what your mind is portraying at that moment in time. The reasons why I say to do this via email is because then you will have it to refer back to, when you are having those down moments or days. Make copies of it, post it on your mirror, place it around your house, and even keep a copy in your car.
Believe me, I know this works. When I was at one of the lowest points in my life, dealing with a divorce, hearing I might lose my house, having to secure my job and my business, and knowing that my father only had days to live, I did just that. I reached out to people I thought would answer, and to my surprise, the one I least expected to answer at the time, replied with things I had either forgotten or never thought of about myself. The comments I received were uplifting to my spirit:
*Your capacity to love
* The passion you have inside
*Honesty
*Your dependability
*The love you convey in a hug
*The warmth in your smile
*The strength in your hands
*The words in your eyes
*You’re a great mom in spite of your own mother
*You give without conditions
Just recently I reviewed this and thought I should try this again, as things have been interesting and I needed some reassurance. These were the responses I received this time around from different people.
*A memory that holds everything, with dates, times and facts- phenomenal!
*Wonderful intuitive use of Essential Oils that goes far beyond what is in the written materials available.
*A gift for organization, keeping a home neat, orderly and clean, while juggling several jobs and many clients.
*A delightful musical laughter that is always ready to enjoy the moment
*A loving warmth, that is tender, caring and ready to accept everyone.
*Brilliant -not just smart, but luminous
*Resilient- meaning stretching as to allow a person free will, even when you know it could snap back and really hurt her.
*Spiritual *Layered/complex *Goal-oriented *Entrepreneurial *Curious/adventurous *Risk taker
*You are a great gift and reminder to us all to stay in the positive and loving grace of who we truly are.
I was again taken by surprise with these wonderful and heartfelt answers. I was able to move forward with the next phase of what was happening without second guessing my decisions or choices. You see, we all do have the power within us to be all that we can be, however, we do live in a world, where jobs, children, or health issues can distract us. It is okay to ask for that reassurance; it is even okay to ask for help.
The secret is you have to believe it for yourself, and then it really starts to work.
Give it a try, Believe in you; no one else can do that for you.
