Commitment is the ultimate act of selflessness. In order to be truly committed, you must know what you are doing is for a greater purpose than shallow desires. This does not mean you are sacrificing yourself, because in the lessons of commitment you will be rewarded with finding yourself.
How can you be true to yourself if you don’t know who you really are?
If you are being true to yourself then there should be no fear, resentment, lies or regret about the choices you are making.
If you are confused about a choice then look deeper and make sure the choice is yours to make. This is commitment. In being true to yourself, you are also being true to others. Sometimes the journey can push you way outside your comfort zone. You will be challenged and rewarded all at the same time. Your emotions will fight your inner guidance and only love for yourself will keep you on your path to self discovery. The ultimate lesson all of us have to learn is unconditional love, which includes not only of others but of ourselves as well. Happiness is a healthy mental attitude, a grateful spirit and a clear heart full of love. However, you have to learn to love yourself first before you can truly love someone else.
“Promise to set boundaries with people who drain your time and energy – family, friends, people you may feel sorry for, your job. Relationships need to be give and take. When they aren’t, they drain you and take away time you need for your own happiness and yourself.”
Make that first commitment be to YOU and watch yourself grow.

I stumbled on this, Joanne, but like anything….guess it was not a coincidence, because the words
are very poignant for me rt now….thanks -
Sarah, I am pleased that you found this at the time that you needed it in your life. Commitment is also about Respect of self and others. When we set out to work with others we have to set aside time as if it was ourself- Not rush through it… and not have our mind onto the next thing we are doing… however be ever present with who is with us at that moment.
Be well – and again thank you for your comment and support.
In Honor
Joanne
