Quote of the Day, January 29, 2010
January 29, 2010 by Editor
Whenever you’re in conflict with someone, there is one factor that can make the difference between damaging your relationship and deepening it. That factor is attitude.” ~ William James (1842-1910)
Dr. Rob On My Mind, January 29, 2010

Smile when it hurts most, a simple thing to do and a practice, which is how I start the day and my most often practiced exercise. You are the master and hold the key to the outcomes of the Universe. It is contained in your attitude, and this is only a simple thought. We are so often living in the reptilian brain, the fight or flight, feed or procreate mode of existence. It is an ancient instinctual nature of the human experience, of all animals. We see and live life in the fear mode and often carry with that a bad and defeating attitude. The simple solution is the see all things as good and an opportunity to learn and grow. And a smile sends the energy to the brain to change the chemistry and build the necessary molecules and electro-molecular response to affect the positive outcome to all things. Things happen as the creator has created, for this is the nature of the Universe. To simply love all things is a way of changing those things. As Winston Churchill stated, “attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.” A bad attitude will quickly ruin a barrel of perfectly good apples, as it will bring you down before you have time to think. Fear is the element that fosters more and more fear. As Theodore Roosevelt stated, “we have nothing to fear but fear itself.” A thought of a thing is all that this is. This is the most awesome and amazing secret of the Universe. If you think it good, good attitude, it becomes that and it brings with it the growth and beauty of the Universal energy, LOVE.
John Heywood, poet and playwright 1497-1580, shared, “if you will call your troubles experiences, and remember that every experience develops some latent force within you, you will grow vigorous and happy, however your circumstances may seem to be.” Things happen in life, all part of the journey gifted to us by the creator. If you jump for joy to all change and see it all as the beauty and gift. I love change each and every day of my life, and I use these words to bring about that which I think. Now I did not always think this, as I dreaded change and with that became sad. And with sadness I would simply wallow in my sadness and depression, as to the bad and unfortunate things in life. Failed relationship, failed job, failed life, is all an attitude and if you simply understand, that is a thought, that all things are experiences that teach. There is no failure in life, all is an experience to grow from, and a blessing. To simply have faith that all things happen as the creator has meant them to be. And through our attitudes we become the creator. Love and blessings, Dr. Rob
Dr. Rob’s 12 Minute Meditation, January 29, 2010
January 29, 2010 by Dr. Rob
Breath in attitude one
Breath in attitude two
Breath in attitude three
This is how I start the day
A simple breath in, is from all of thee
A smile is what you bring to me
It touches every cell and thee
Breath in attitude one
Breath in attitude two
Breath in attitude three
It is all good in life, walking the garden of thee
In with the smile and out to see
All good is what you be
Music vibrates and touches thee
The garden is in all of me
Breath in attitude one
Breath in attitude two
Breath in attitude three
In with the breath is the beauty to see
Love all and blessings from me

Natural Cycles of Sleep, Rythmic Rest
January 29, 2010 by Editor

The human body evolved to fall asleep soon after the descent of night’s curtain and to wake with the appearance of the dawn. Sleep cycles were governed by patterns of light and darkness for thousands of years, meaning that for much of history, humanity has enjoyed nine of more hours of sleep each night. Our bodies are naturally encoded to respond to light and dark and sleeping with the rhythms of Mother Nature. In the present, artificial light has changed the way we schedule our day-to-day lives, and most of us slumber for less than seven hours at a stretch. It is possible, however, to come back to natural sleeping cycles by making a few small changes. When our bodies and minds are attuned to the world’s natural rhythms, we feel calmer, more centered, and more energetic while awake. Sleep is more satisfying because we afford ourselves more than enough time for restoration and rejuvenation.
Our reliance on indoor lighting further compounds our disassociation from the natural cycles of light and darkness that would otherwise preside over our sleep. You can mimic the passage of the day by changing the quality of the light. Sleeping without heavy drapery or shades is best so you can wake up with the sun. If sleeping by a window without a curtain is not an option, a dawn simulator lamp imitates the sun by growing steadily brighter with the coming of the height of morning.
You will likely discover that changing your sleep patterns to be in sync with the daily cycle of light and darkness is easy and that you feel more alive when your sleeping and waking rhythms are in alignment to those of the earth. Nature’s own phases will be your guide to wellness, granting you more waking hours in the summertime when you will benefit greatly from spending time outside and ensuring you get plenty of sleep in the winter when you likely need it most.

The Art of Focus, Energy Protection
January 28, 2010 by Editor

Many of us are sensitive to energy, so we make our homes a sanctuary and only leave when we have fully prepared ourselves. We may use gemstones, essential oil, or talismans, or perhaps we call on our angels or surround ourselves in a bubble of light. But we should be conscious of what we are seeking to accomplish. It is important to remember that if we want to shield ourselves, we might inadvertently keep out the good that is coming our way. All of our tools can be helpful if we use them wisely and keep ourselves engaged in all the world has to offer.
If we instead seek to filter distractions, than we can be like prospectors panning for gold. We learn to filter when we are children as we learn about the world around us. At first every leaf on the ground is a reason to stop and investigate. But as we learn where to focus our attention, the rest becomes background. We don’t cut ourselves off from the world, we merely shift our focus.
As humans, we don’t always know what is good for us. Sometimes what appears to be a negative situation contains a gem of wisdom that leads to our highest growth. Rather than focusing our thoughts on what we want to keep out of our experience, we may want to turn the light of our attention to the good we’d like to create while leaving room for something better. By doing this, we allow space for the wisdom of the universe to work its magic on our behalf. If we trust the universe, we know that good is present even if it doesn’t look good on the surface. When we shift our focus this way, we actually attract those things into our lives, and the rest falls away without the effort of filtering. By practicing the art of focus, we invest our attention and energy into making our lives a positive experience.
