Holiday Coping Suggestions by Kristen Magnacca

With the holiday season upon us and prior to the busyness of this time swinging into full gear, I would like to take this opportunity to send a reminder of how important it is to Nurture, Nurture, Nurture yourself, your spouse and your relationship.  Remember to incorporate that one nurturing item into your day.  Something small and simple to create the regeneration of your mind, body and soul so that you are able to give to others.  You have to fill yourself up before you can give to others!

The other suggestion I would like to offer is to practice your Elevator Speech and have it at the ready.  Remember?  An elevator speech is a well-rehearsed script that rolls off your tongue to answer the questions… “So, when are you going to have a baby?” or   “Do you have children?

Here’s my favorite again:  “We have a whole team of experts working on that”.

Also, it is okay to say “NO” to an invitation if you feel as though you are not up to the event.  Or if it is a mandatory event, try breaking the time down into manageable chunks, say to yourself… “Okay, I’ll stay for appetizers and then head out”.  If you feel as though you can stay longer, do but if that is all you can handle, you managed the event well and head out on your merry way! Giving yourself permission to feel and do what is best for you is the best gift you can give yourself right now… doing so without self-judgment!

kristen, thank you so much for the words of Nurture. This is so important to each and every one of us to nurture ourselves and the relationships we cherish. If we do not take care of these, continue to fertilize and till the soul, add the necessary spices to keep it moving forward, we will feel uneasy, unprepared for the daily challenges. I love, “the team of experts working on that”. For we are all a team and with the team approach we never go it alone. Bring your team into it each and every day and we will see you at the Tele workshop on Dec 7th. Thank you for being the support so many of us need. My love to you, dr rob
