Gratitude and the question of worthiness
October 20, 2009 by Editor

We all know what it’s like to finally get something we want, only to find ourselves feeling as if we don’t deserve it. Whether it’s a car, a new job, or a date with someone wonderful, we suddenly feel as if we are not up to it. Something in us wants to reject this gift from the universe, perhaps because it requires that we think of ourselves in a new way or makes us question why we should have something that others don’t have. If these feelings of unworthiness are not consciously acknowledged, they can lead us to sabotage ourselves out of the gift being offered. Perhaps the best way to avoid rejection and sabotage is to simply shift into a state of gratitude, bypassing the question of worthiness altogether.
The question of whether we or anyone else deserves something is not really in our jurisdiction. These themes play themselves out in ways we can’t fully comprehend—on the level of the soul, over the course of many lifetimes. What we do know is that the universe has its own way of shifting the balance over the course of time so that all things are ultimately fair. We can trust in this process and understand that when a gift comes our way, it is because we are meant to have it. Otherwise, it would not be available to us. Accepting the gift with gratitude and using it to the best of our ability is true humility.
When we receive a gift and find that feelings of unworthiness crop up, we can simply acknowledge the feelings and then remind ourselves that they are beside the point. We might say to ourselves, “I am meant to have this.” As we allow ourselves to accept the gift, we might feel tenderness in our hearts that naturally shifts into a deep feeling of gratitude. As we sit for a moment, consciously holding the gift in our hands or in our hearts, we say “yes” to the universe’s many blessings, and we also say “thank you.”

I have always felt a sense of wortlessness on some level. Even though I continue to work very hard at healing from past wounds, it remains a struggle. On the surface, I appear confident in my worthiness, but if you look deeper there is a little girl within crying out for love and acceptance. I have been on the journey of creating my baby for some time now and this reading has opened up a new perspective for this path that I will consider in my prayers and daily meditations. I have complete faith that I will concieve my own baby and now I have another tool for bringing that vision closer to reality. Thank you, Dr. Rob for always sharing your love and opening your heart to us all. I printed this reading so that I may remind myself daily of the importance of my own self worth.
Namaste,

Good morning and an amazing day today. For we create the day based on the thoughts and words we create in our minds, where ever that may be. Worthiness, a word and a thought, is built inside of me. God has gifted you and I life, a conscious experience to explore and journey. To feel and see the ups and downs of the road. I call them bumps, all meant to be to teach me each and every day. Each day i say, thank you god for this amazing day, this is what arrives, every single time. And this is because i see and call all things a gift. Meant for me and there is nothing bad, nothing, all is good and all is god. I have let go of all of the past hurts and bruises. I say, verbally or in writing, thank you god for all that you have gifted me. Every experience is a lesson, from my teacher, to grow and learn. Faith is the key that we all need to find and see. That all things that happen to us, as we perceive, are in fact a gift of this amazing life. Make all things amazing and beautiful, every single day. Start the day with gratitude, that all is a blessing, and know that you are an eternal being of the universe. God has created each and every one of us, to play, explore and enjoy life. With positive and loving thoughts, molecules are created in the brain, that bath each and every cell of our body with love, and send vibratory energy to the Universe. Worthy is thee and me, this i see with positive and loving words, from thoughts. I practice each and every day. And with faith, i know that i will soar or stand on solid ground as i step off the cliff of life. Read positive and loving things each and every day, this is the exercise of the brain, to build the molecules of love. Blessings and namaste, dr rob
