Dr. Rob’s 12 Minute Meditation, October 30th, 2009

October 30, 2009 by Dr. Rob

Dr. Rob Roasting Peppers for His SalsaDr. Rob’s 12 minute meditation:
The secret salsa, the spice of life
I start with the breath
In with the nose, and hold in life
The energy of all things, meditation is life
Walking in the garden, lotus or tai chi
The meditative music flowing into me
In one, out two, in one, out two, in one, out two
Allow the unwanted thoughts to flow in and let them go
This is easy as I practice each day
Feel the energy fill the lungs and touch each cell of the body
In one, out two, in one, out two, in one, out two
Easy and bringing the spice of life to each cell
The secret salsa, the spice of life

Dr. Rob On My Mind, October 30th, 2009

October 30, 2009 by Dr. Rob

Dr. Rob with Joelle and Alain at Joelle's French Bistro
Dr Rob on my mind; thank you for this day, and blessings brought to me each and every way. Salsa and spice, this is life. Thank you to Joelle and Alain for allowing me to share in their kitchen, Joelle’s French Bistro yesterday. All there make me feel at home. Mom was there and enjoying, dancing away, with all of our friends and family. All connected as one and food is an amazing link in the Universe. Share food and drink each and every day, and to really get to know someone, get in their kitchen and cook with them. Cook away and add spice each day of your life.
Love,
Dr. Rob

New Connections

October 30, 2009 by Kristen Magnacca

Kristen Magnacca, Love & Infertility Author
Change is a good thing… really.  Without change the universe isn’t able to receive direction to begin to create something new.  The other day while on a coaching call with an amazing woman we discussed the balancing of her heart’s desire, faith and the perceived stumbling blocks that are associated with life.

The questions that we were addressing were:

How do you balance the leap of faith of newness and hold onto the faith that all is possible with the human emotions of uncertainty? The uncertainty of life can create fear, anxiety and upset.  I am a firm believer that if you change your emotions in order to create new connections, you create a new existence.

Dr. Joe Dispenza who has devoted himself to the study of neuroplasticity says “neurons that fire together stay together” has an amazing video on his website that shows in real time a “thought” and it’s connection to the neurons within the brain.  He then goes on and shows the image of learning something new and an image of changing your mind. (Check out Dr. Joe Dispenza.com for amazing video that shows this concept http://www.drjoedispenza.com/)

It is amazing.  That literally you can see your brain in action, having a thought and then seeing the working of that thought.  Also, how if you change the emotional component you change the links.  What this video made clear to me is that if you consistently feel or become angry or sad, hopeless on a daily basis, then the connections become strong and create tentacles.

This means that you are creating a new neural connection that you have all the control over.  Reminding yourself that this is a temporary situation that requires consistent attention until completion will help you fall back onto your healthy thought patterns and have the resilience to move through the unhealthy thoughts quicker.

You could ask yourself “Is the thought I am thinking helpful or harmful to me? I guarantee you’ll get the answer you desire.

Come and learn more about this and other strategies for coping when I present Dr. Rob’s Love and Infertility Workshop Part 1 to be held at the Rochester Center on November 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Also, feel free to call in to the December 8th Tele-workshop at 8:00 pm for a review of strategies from Love and Infertility Workshop Part I and some helpful holiday strategies.

Friend

October 29, 2009 by David Ritter

We have often heard something like; “you pick your friends, but family is picked for us”. Family is certainly something we are “gifted” with and it can sometimes be a struggle to understand if the stork was drunk or simply lost. Good or bad, we spend most of our lives trying to be part of our family and be accepted as equal. Some day’s and some people are certainly more difficult than others. Either way, because they are our family, we almost always keep trying.

However, do we really pick our friends either? True friendship, is shared, without jealousy, control and insecurity and is very rare indeed. I would suggest that those that profess to have a large circle of friends and several BFF’s as they are now referred, simply have many close acquaintances with similar interest. Each of those acquaintances having different needs, wants and limitations and not always in your best interest. Read more

Master the Art of Listening

Listening
“So when you are listening to somebody, completely, attentively, then you are listening not only to the words, but also to the feeling of what is being conveyed, to the whole of it, not part of it.” -Jiddu Krishnamurti

Master the Art of Listening:
No wonder listening is an undervalued art. Research shows that we speak at a rate of about 125 words per minute, yet we have the capacity to listen to approximately 400 words per minute. So what are we doing with that extra space in our minds when someone else is talking? Are we really listening? This article offers seven pointers on how to sharpen our ability as listeners. [Read more here]

Be The Change:
Try honing your listening skills this week with some of the pointers shared in the article above.

Dr. Rob’s 12 Minute Meditation, October 29th, 2009

October 29, 2009 by Dr. Rob

Dr. Rob’s 12 minute meditation:
Cooking up life, adding the spice
This I do first thing in the am
To focus on the breath, the energy of life
In slow and focus on thee
The breath in one two three
Feel the energy spice up me
Cooking up life is all up to me
This practice I know will brighten and glow
Walking in the garden, tai chi, lotus
Let the unwanted thoughts simply flow and go
Meditative music in the background
Each day this builds the molecules

Namaste
