Some thoughts on the news – Dr. Rob

I admire the people that do the work to bring the news, information of the current events, to each and every TV, radio, newspaper and magazine, each and every day. Yet, most often this information is fear provoking to the mind. If our focus is on the current news and current events, our brain is always in a protective mode, seeing and feeling danger lurking at each and every stop light and signal.
The hard drive, the subconscious mind, filled with the information to protect us from the lions, tigers and bears, along with famine, doesn’t know the difference between the words and reality. Bad weather today, terrible traffic, faulty economy, no jobs, simply words the hard drive, subconscious mind, recognizes as risks to survival. This puts us in a flight or fight mode, stress to the harmony of each and every cell of the body. This causes breathing difficulties, eating and swallowing problems, joint and muscle pains, to name a few. It may even lead to early death from depression, fear and anxiety and lead us not to move forward in life.
These thoughts also challenge us in our relationships at home, school and work. Thus, by starting the day with the news of who died or was arrested, the wars of the world, famine, etc. we put ourselves in this risky environment with the lurking animals and situations that the brain sees as potential harm to our survival. I have found that by focusing on these things we rarely, if ever change them, as the news seems to be the same always and everywhere.
By starting the day with a gratitude greeting of the day, a positive intention or meditation, we can choose to focus on the beauty of each and every day, creating in our minds a sense of harmony, beauty and love. Each cell in the body feels this and opens up to the gifts of life, attracting those things that improve our life, giving us joy and happiness. With the love and forgiveness of all people, and harboring no judgment in the day, these thoughts alone will build the subconscious mind with software, thought ideas that see and feel the bounty of life. For even the changes in the weather, traffic, and economy are good and simply opportunities to learn and live a better life. By reading and writing positive thoughts each and every day, life brings blessings always.
