Meditation: I believe in thee
June 30, 2009 by Dr. Rob
12 minute meditation: I believe in thee
First thing in the morning and often at the end of the day
Meditative music in the background
Walking, Tai Chi, sitting or lotus position
Find the comfortable position and mix it up
Now focus on the breath, a simple thing, in through the nose and smile out with the mouth
Do it to 10, use a positive mantra, or daily affirmation
Today, I believe in thee
Feel the energy of love flowing to each cell in the body
The warmth of thee, the energy of the Universe, flowing with the breath
It is easy to believe in thee, and easy for you and me
Feel the breath, flowing and energizing thee
Your thoughts create your life, make them positive and loving each day
And with a simple 12 minute meditation each day you change the Universe
Namaste,
Dr. Rob

The rainy days of life
June 30, 2009 by Claire Affleck

As I look outside today, the clouds are dark and rain is tapping on my window. For most, rain is an easy excuse to complain – “Oh, this weather is terrible!” But we need to take the rainy days with the sunny ones and appreciate each day for the gifts that they hold. We can’t let external things, like the weather, control our mood for the day, we must create our own mood! Each day we have the power to construct our mindset and outlook on life. So today, as I see the rain coming down, I think, “Wow, we needed the rain to make the flowers and trees grow. I could use a day to work on paper work inside the house rather than working outside.” Rainy days are often the best ones for getting friends together to watch a movie, or reading a good book in bed! One trick that I use is to not get out of bed before I think of at least one positive thing that the day will hold for me, and then I smile! Creating this positive moment first thing makes a huge difference in the day. When it becomes habit and we do this every day, amazing things can really happen – rain or shine! Read more
Eating right to feel better
June 30, 2009 by Editor

At its simplest, food is fuel. Though our preferences regarding taste and texture can vary widely, we all rely on the foods we eat for energy. Most people are aware that it is vital we consume a diverse assortment of foods if we aspire to maintain a state of physical well-being. However, the intimate connection between diet and our mental well-being is less understood. Just as the nutritional components in food power the body, so too do they power the mind. Some foods can impair cognitive functioning and sap our energy while others heighten our intellectual prowess and make us feel vigorous. What we eat and drink can have a powerful effect on our ability to focus, mental clarity, mood, and stress levels. Read more
