Video: Get bored

May 29, 2009 by Dr. Rob

Getting bored is the topic of Dr. Rob’s daily intention and also his meditation today.

Video Transcription:
Hello and good morning it’s Dr. Rob
Another crazy and spectacular day in the Universe
Get bored is my intention of the day
Go, go, go, do, do, do, move, move, move
To read, to run, to shop, to work, to cook and to feed
The need sometimes seems like greed
It is something I seem to always want and need to do
Always on the run and in need to move, somehow this seems like fun
My thoughts, my energy, my muscles, spinning and spinning
Always telling me to keep on moving to enjoy this life
Oh my, simply to think there might be nothing to do
To be bored in life, even for a minute, seems like a sacrifice
Not sure of what I am to do, but now I think, I must simply do nothing
This is something I know I must do, to simply sit and ponder, nothing to do
I am told there is always something to do, yet to do nothing is now what I set out to do
To get bored with my life, maybe for only a few moments, yet it might set me right
Now I know another trick in life, to simply do nothing and ponder this amazing, wonderful life
Get bored and step back for a moment, now you see how amazing nothing can be
God bless to all and enjoy the moment of nothing in life
Dr. Rob

Quotes of the day:
“Boredom is just the reverse side of fascination: both depend on being outside rather than inside a situation, and one leads to the other.”
And “Friends and acquaintances are the surest passport to fortune.”
~Arthur Schopenhauer
Seek your fortune each and everyday!

Meditation of the day:
Boredom is ok today
Remember 12 minutes at the beginning of your day
Focus on the breath
In through the nose and smile out through the mouth
Slow and easy, light body movements
Sitting, kneeling
Ane maybe try some tai chi and move slowly with the music of the day, (try SnatamKaur.com)
Boredom is ok today, as you simply focus on the breath, your positive thoughts, and love of each and every day and everyone in your day
Your love of all and forgiveness today will set you and others free, no judgment
Breathe in and smile out, slow and easy, meditative music energizing each and every cell in our body
This is your awesome life and you must care for it with love of yourself and everyone else
And remember to let go of judgment today with a breath
Breathe in and smile out, simply 12 minutes each and every day to make your most awesome, awesome life

God bless and love to all, boredom today

Healing is communication

May 29, 2009 by Editor

Photo by Rodney Waters: Anita Kruse, composer, pianist, and founder of Purple Songs Can Fly.

Healing is communication; and music, in its universal nature, is total communication. In the deepest mysteries of music are the inspirations, the pathways, and the healing which lead to one-ness and unity. –Olivea Dewhurst-Maddock

Purple Songs Can Fly:
In her room at Texas Children’s Cancer Center in Houston, eight-year-old Simran Jatar lay hooked up to a chemo drip to fight her bone cancer. Over her bald head, she wore a pink hat that matched her pajamas. But the third grader’s cheery outfit didn’t mask her pain and weary eyes. Then a visitor showed up. “Do you want to write a song?” asked Anita Kruse, 49, rolling a cart equipped with an electronic keyboard, a microphone, and speakers. Simran stared. “Have you ever written a poem?” Kruse continued. Well, yes, Simran said. Within minutes, she was reading her poem into the microphone. “Some bird soaring through the sky,” she said softly. “Imagination in its head…” Kruse added piano chords, a few warbling birds, and finally her own voice. Thirty minutes later, she presented Simran with a CD of her first recorded song. That was the beginning of Purple Songs Can Fly, a project that has helped more than 125 young patients write and record songs. [Read more here]

Riding lessons for life #8

May 29, 2009 by Claire Affleck

Rhythm:

I recently had the honor of training with 2008 and 2004 Olympic Show Jumping Gold Medalist Beezie Madden of Cazenovia, NY.  While I warmed up my horse at the walk, trot, and canter before jumping she stressed the importance of “regulating the rhythm” of the horse.  It was up to me to set the rhythm and to keep it where I wanted it.  Only I could maintain it, speed it up, or slow it down.  This same concept carried over into our jumping work as well.  Of course, the better at regulating the rhythm that I was at the walk, trot, and canter, the easier it was to do over a course of fences.

On the drive home I reviewed the ride in my mind.  I kept repeating the phrase “regulating the rhythm” over and over until I realized how important that was in life out of the saddle too!  In our lives, we have complete control over the rhythm.  We can choose to keep things steady in our life, speed things up or slow them down.  Being able to do this is an important skill. Dr. Rob shares his intention today, Comforting clouds in the video he created below. You can see all past videos on his YouTube channel DrRobLive.

Video Transcription:
Good morning to all and a beautiful day today
Comforting clouds, my intention of the day
The cloud cover so often seems to hover
At first I sense no sun shining on me
The dark clouds and rainy days are drizzling
Blocking the light and wetting me
Yet the clouds can simply be like my cover
A warm blanket, cozy and comforting me
And the moisture bathing and watering thee
Yet all my brain sees is no sun shining on me
Then I remember it is like my blanket and cover
Simply cozy and warming over me
Creating the warmth and beauty of sunshine within me
For there is always sun, the energy of life, penetrating into me
To cover over me, to warm and comfort all of thee
Yes I remember that the clouds are all part of you and me
All good and part of this amazing comforting life
Comforting clouds, warming and shining on me
Love to all!
Quote of the day:
“It is neither good nor bad, but thinking makes it so.”
~William Shakespeare

Meditation of the day:
Warming clouds bring comfort to me
12 minutes each and every day
Easy yoga stretching and meditative music in the background
Kneeling or sitting again at the beginning of the day
Breathe in and focus on the breath
You are amazing and it is another beautiful day we create
Slow breathing and “warming clouds bring comfort to me”
Simple mantra and focus on positive thoughts for your day
Allow your negative thoughts and worries to come in…
Then just let them go by focusing on the “warming clouds comforting me”
A simple thing each day for only 12 minutes to change the brain
To change every cell in your body and create health in your day

Love to you and Namaste

Small gestures make a big impact

May 28, 2009 by Editor

We often feel that we don’t have the time or energy to extend ourselves to others with the small gestures that compose what we call common courtesy. It sometimes seems that this kind of social awareness belongs to the past, to smaller towns and slower times. Yet, when someone extends this kind of courtesy to us, we always feel touched. Someone who lends a helping hand when we are struggling with our groceries makes an impression because many people just walk right by. Even someone who simply makes the effort to look us in the eye, smile, and greet us properly when entering a room stands out of the crowd. It seems these people carry with them the elegance and grace of another time, and we are always thankful for our contact with them. Common courtesy is a small gesture that makes a big difference.
