Women over 40 unite in unique ways

Yes, women over 40 do unite in unique ways. They support each other through an amazing transition time. Being over 40 used to mean “getting older” but it no longer holds any stigma. Instead it is now a time of awakening. How exciting is that?

I talked with a woman recently who had just turned 40, and she said, “This is so great; I no longer need to worry about how I look.” So I mused about this as I paid attention to her over the course of several weeks. In no way did her appearance change. She was still always well groomed and wore beautiful clothes. So what did she really mean? What had happened to her? Simply put - it is an internal shift in perception.

As women age, they are called to action in a sense. As each decade passes, 40, 50, 60, 70 and beyond women not only see themselves differently, but the very world around them changes and they begin a journey: A journey of great discovery! They begin to ask themselves the age-old-question, “Who am I and what do I want?” For some women this is the very first time they have ever asked themselves this question and actually taken the time to listen for an answer.

Taking the time to listen is a key component to their success. That is one of the reasons women love my coaching retreats. A client came to her first coaching call recently and expressed that she was nervous. Upon inquiry she revealed to me- that for her, change was always scary.
