A New Day

June 29, 2008 by Teresa Vitale

Greetings,
About a week ago, while working in my studio I received a most interesting & totally unpredictable voice mail. Christine told me about a new project she was working on. The Mind Body Smile web site with Dr. Kiltz, and would I be interested in writing a paragraph or two once a week on some of my thoughts. WOW!! Why me I asked myself? Well, maybe it’s because in the last few weeks certain connections have been made that are creating a new & positive energy all around us. I love the idea of collaborating on stimulating great emotions. I know how important it is. I enjoy so much the process, from an artist perspective, on creating atmosphere that stimulates the mind, body and soul. I know it works!

Just recently, I turned fifty-one years old. I can not believe that I love so much this time in my life. Even though my body has started to make certain changes, it is OK. I have made certain decisions about attitude that have helped me to deal with the complexities of everyday living. I was born in Sicily, grew up in Brooklyn, NY met my husband Gino (during the Saturday night fever era), our daughter Genoveffa was born and we moved upstate to an old one-hundred and sixty-six years old federal style farm house.

Twenty-three years later, I just love it up here!!! Come spring our grounds become so rich with color that I humbly become very grateful about having the privilege to be alive. I was a city girl, but with my husbands’ guidance I am enjoying becoming a campagniola ( a country girl). We have a large vegetable garden, a collection of fruit trees, chickens, fresh eggs and horses. I’m working at creating small little gardens scattered around our place. Come summer, we get so totally consumed with developing an ample amount of canned, frozen and dried fruits & vegetables to sustain us until the following summer. It’s hard work, but we enjoy it so much. Both of us love cooking a yummy dish every night with our very own ingredients. Drink our favorite wines, and listen to awesome music. I totally believe that amore, passion for living, a healthy mind, to love one’s work, respect life, love family & friends are the secret to a good life. Don’t you?

So let’s see tonight we are going to cook ” Minestra di Tinnerume with Porpertine” little meatballs with my canned vegetable soup. Once the soup is ready we add about one pound of chopped cooked linguine and lots of Reggiano Parmeggiano. I will have the recipe on line in a few days.

As for music, we enjoy listening to Gato Barbieri ” Caliente, Ottman Liebert ” Nouveau Flamenco”, we just love jazz & guitar, and lot’s of Italian music from way back when and now.

Life is beautiful!!!

Ciao
