Anemia “ Blood Deficiency” is a condition in which the number of red blood cells or hemoglobin is below normal. Hemoglobin is a protein that carries oxygen in the blood. Symptoms of blood deficiency range from fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, spots in vision and premature graying of hair. Not all symptoms appear at once, however some if not most are present.
Anemia has several causes, The most common cause of blood deficiency is nutrient deficiency. Red blood cells are created in the bone marrow. The main nutrients needed for the development of red blood cells are iron, folic acid and vitamin B12. Adequate source’s of protein are also necessary. Several other factors can lead to blood deficiency. Chronic bleeding and or sudden blood loss. The first and most important step in treating anemia is to determine the cause of the blood deficiency. If you suspect that you may have blood deficiency “anemia” contact your doctor for an evaluation.
In order to strengthen and enrich your blood properly through nutrition the digestive system needs to be healthy. Try to eat cook or steamed foods. Raw food is harder and takes more energy to digest. Vitamin C is needed to insure the proper absorption of iron in the system. Good sources of vitamin C, iron, folic acid and B12 are: citrus fruits, tomatoes, rose hip, broccoli, spinach, kelp, fresh fruit and carrots. A good multi vitamin and mineral taken daily is also a good preventative measure. Red meat is a high source of iron and in moderate amounts is beneficial to the body.

* Most importantly try to eat regularly and include a good source of protein, fruits and vegetables.
